Abstract

The study of water-soluble chitosan (WSC) was investigated by antimicrobial test; that is, the minimum inhibitory concentra-tion for WSC with Paris verticillata. Ethanol extracts from leaf of Paris verticillata showed the highest antimicrobial activity for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Also, ethanol-extract showed the highest antimicrobial activity than methanol-extract. But, root-extract and distilled-water-extract of leaf did not show growth inhibitory effect. Synergistic effect of antimicrobial showed by the WSC with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Ethanol-extracts from leaf of Paris verticillata showed good synergy effect; namely, the ratio of ethanol-extract (5:5, 6:4 7:3, and 8:2) for leaf with Paris verticillata.
